Jay Matthew
BACKGROUND
Jay Matthew M.A. is a Beaumont, TX native that has worked with many writers, producers and directors in the Houston and Dallas area. He’s gained his knowledge of screen and playwriting through education from Texas Southern University, shadowing great directors, working at the Ensemble Theater in Houston, learning from other playwrights across the nation and studying the likes of August Wilson and Lorraine Hansberry. He has previously produced stage plays such as ‘In My Bed’ and 'You Don't Even Love Me' that graced the stage of Texas Southern University in 2007.
Jay Matthew is also a songwriter and music producers that works with artists and producers from New York, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston and many other cities in America.
COMPANY VISION
Jay Matthew Entertainment’s quest is to bring this beautiful form of entertainment and communication to the community of Houston, TX, while teaching and mentoring the youth and up-in-coming talent in Harris County. There is a very active and dedicated theatre community already located in Houston. However, there has never been an actual community theatre in Houston, where these people can experience high art in their own neighborhoods and communities. It is our plan to incorporate the existing theatre community into our company to begin with a strong base of supporters. From there we will be able to spread the word that viewing and participating in stage plays is a fun and exciting way to spend time. There are many benefits to theatre that will attract people from many backgrounds and interests.
