BACKGROUND 

Over the past decade Jay Matthew has worked with numerous writers, producers and directors in the Houston and Dallas area. Matthew has gained his knowledge of screen and play-writing from Texas Southern University and transformed his knowledge into practice by shadowing directors and working at the Ensemble Theater in Houston, TX. Later Matthew began to direct, light, stage manage, and sound design such shows as; Ashes to Africa, Radio Golf, 12 Ways of Christmas, The Christmas Carol and Bugsy Malone. Jay has also written seven stage plays, helped score a sound track, written two one acts and a children’s musical. Four of his creations has reached the stage in Houston and Dallas, TX. Currently, Jay Matthew is also a drama teacher at Spring Forest Middle School located in Spring Branch ISD. He’s taught here for three years and has worked in the district for a total of six years. As a Drama Teacher Jay Has produced several youth performances such as, The Christmas Carol, Winners, Tell Tale Heart, Who Don It?, Bugsy Malone the Musical and Showtime High (a musical written by, Jay Matthew) Jay Matthew continues to work on giving back and improving the talents that God has given him while trailblazing through the world of entertainment through the arts.  

 

COMPANY VISION

Jay Matthew Entertainment’s quest is to bring a form of entertainment to the community of Houston, TX, that will captivate audiences while teaching and mentoring the youth and up-in-coming talent in the Greater Houston Area. Jay Matthew would like to provide exciting experience for actors starting from the age of 4 to 94. Jay Matthew plan is to grow in the realm of professional main stream theatre and film entertainment, while progressing in young thespians through the JMYP (Jay Matthew Young Performers) division of the company. Progress is measured in accomplishment, but Jay Matthew Entertainment vision is to find measure in the artisitic growth of our community.
